Tips for buying carpfishing leads
– What is lead used for carpfishing?
The leads in carpfishing are used for bottom fishing. These have the function of exerting weight so that we can throw our rod away and that the hook with the bait is directed towards the bottom of the water. They are placed on our line and will exercise their mission when we throw the cane into the water. On the other hand, the lead will cause the fish to stick itself, that is, it sinks the hook into its mouth when eating the bait and sounds our alarms.
– What kind of leads exist?
There are two types of leads fundamentally. We see the general characteristics of each of them:
- Carpfishing leads online: this type of lead is crossed by our main line. To do this, the lead is equipped inside with a plastic tube through which the line passes. The lead in line has greater weight in the front area, that is, where the underline is knotted, thus favoring the nailing.
- Clip-on carpfishing leads: these leads have an emerillon and are hooked to our line through a clip, therefore, it is very easy to exchange the lead.
– What shapes and appearance can leads have?
In the world of carpfishing, special camouflage leads have been manufactured, in such a way that they camouflage as much as possible at the bottom of the water. Traditional dark grayish leads are visible at great distances, depending on the clarity of the water, so they would scare the fish. If we manage to imitate the aquatic bottom, we will get the lead to go unnoticed and can be confused with a stone or any other element of the bottom. Because of this, there are leads specifically indicated for carpfishing.
We can already find in the market leads with sandy or verdine finish, imitating very well the characteristics of the aquatic bottom, looking like stones or algae. These leads are greenish and brown tones.
As for its shape, we can distinguish between:
- Pear leads (very aerodynamic)
- Branch leads (imitate a branch fragment)
- Bullet leads
- Cube leads
- Lead grippa
– What sizes of lead can we find?
There is a fairly wide range in terms of the weight of carpfishing leads. These range from 50 to 130 grams, through carpfishing leads of 60 gr, 70 gr, 75 gr, 80, gr, 90 gr, 100 gr, 110 gr and 115gr. Those are the limits allowed in competition.
The weight of the lead influences the distance at which we throw the cane: the greater the weight of the lead, the farther we will be able to throw, within the possibilities of our cane.
– What type of lead do we have to use at all times?
It is recommended to use lead online in bottoms with a certain hardness, such as sand or gravel. Inline lead allows you to launch at a greater distance. In addition, they are the indicated leads to introduce them into our PVA bag.
Clip leads, unlike inline leads, this type of lead is suitable for softer bottoms, since it is more difficult for them to sink the bait into the bottom and make it invisible to the fish.
– Where can we store the leads for our carpfishing sessions?
The ideal way to store and transport our leads is in bags and macutos for special small leads that are reinforced to resist the weight of the leads.
